Global telecommunications vendors and operators are making significant progress on the fifth generation of mobile radio technology known as 5G. While 5G standards have yet to be fully ratified by international technology bodies, trials and proof of concept demonstrations are well underway as of 2017, giving us an idea of what we can expect in the coming years. Initial testing of 5G has shown that the technology will provide significantly faster mobile broadband connections to a larger number of users, which will radically change the consumer, enterprise, and industrial wireless connection sectors.【抄訳】グローバル通信事業者において、第5世代移動通信（5G）の著しい技術進展が見られる。5G規格は、現段階では国際標準化に至っていないが、2017年の策定完了を見据えた試験や概念実証が進んでおり、将来性への期待が高まっている。5Gは、より多くのユーザーとの広帯域接続を可能とし、著しく高速化することが初期テストで確認されており、顧客、企業、および無線接続を要する産業部門に急進的な変化をもたらすことが予想される。（本文は英語です）
