Edge computing has been an area of high interest in the IT world for some time now, starting with the widespread adoption of cloud computing. But recently there has been growing interest largely due to the expansion of IoT sensor networks and the coming launch of 5G networks. As such many new mobile edge computing services and use cases have recently entered the market, and enterprises can increasingly consider new applications of the technology in enterprise scenarios.【抄訳】エッジコンピューティングは、クラウド・コンピューティングの普及を受けて以前より関心を集めていたが、ここにきてIoTセンサーネットワークの拡大と次世代通信規格「5G」の台頭によって、その関心が一層高まってきている。最近新たに登場してきたモバイルでのエッジコンピューティングのサービスと事例を基に、企業は自社ビジネスに活用する新しいアプリケーションを検討できる状況となってきた。
