IoT adoption continued to advance in Japan in 2019 as, according to a recent ITR survey, 94% of large domestic enterprises using IoT in their business with at least 10 billion yen in revenue and 50 employees will continue to develop IoT solutions. And while the market will continue to develop in 2020, several new wireless technologies will accelerate the speed of adoption and the sophistication of the services being deployed both in terms of hardware and software. According to a recent IoT survey, 33% of Japanese enterprises plan to use Wi-Fi, 43% plan to use cellular connectivity and 18% plan to use LPWA in IoT deployments in the next three years, and as these technologies mature, they will feature more robust capabilities. Furthermore, new IT vendor offerings based on these new technologies will give Japanese enterprises new options to increase efficiency and lower operational costs using IoT.【抄訳】ITRが2019年に行った調査によれば、IoTを導入している国内大企業の94％が今後もIoTの導入を継続・拡大する姿勢を示した。2020年も引き続き国内のIoT市場は成長すると見られるが、いくつかの新しいワイヤレステクノロジが、ハードウェアとソフトウェアの両方の導入スピードとサービスの高度化を加速させることが予想される。同調査では、今後3年間で回答企業の33%がWi-Fiを、43%が3G／4G／5Gなどのセルラー接続を、18%がLPWAを利用するとしている。これらのテクノロジは成熟するにつれて機能の堅牢性を増すであろう。また、これらの新しいテクノロジをベースとした製品やサービスは、IoTの導入による効率化や運用コスト削減に向けた新たな選択肢となろう。
